But of course!!!
The early 90s film "The Rocketeer" is getting a reboot and there's been a fairly significant change. Ready? Can you guess?
Got it yet? Come on ... !!!
You got it -- star Billy Campbell's role is out ... and the protagonist will now be played by ... a black woman.
"The Hollywood Reporter says the company is prepping a brand new sequel/reboot called The Rocketeers and the new hero is an African-American woman.
This new version will be set six years after the original film. The first Rocketeer has disappeared fighting the Nazis, so an unlikely pilot takes up the mantle and battles the scientists who are trying to mass produce the rocket technology for the enemy."

What I hate most about this is that the Rocketeer's creator is not around, I have to ask..did Disney ask his living relatives if this was ok? I mean if a creator is not around and such a large change is happening to them shouldn't they ask the family for advice? I mean with DC and Marvel I get either because they own the character or because there is no one left to ask. Yet isn't the Rocketeer own by his estate or IDW? I tried doing quick research to find out who owns the rights? Does Disney just own the film rights? I guess they must but shouldn't they keep the story close to the original if this is a reboot? I mean if it is a reboot or revamp shouldn't it be like the comic? Not only that but sure the Rocketeer was an underrated classic Disney/comic book film but in the past it did not make a lot of money, plus the market is over saturated with superhero movies making it hard for an indie superhero to make it big I mean it would need like the biggest marketing push, best men in the business, mind blowing effects, and lots of luck for it to be a major money maker and establish a Rocketeer franchise.
Love the Rocketeer, classic film. And you know what? I don't mind him being a legacy character, even by a black woman.
But do they HAVE to make "the first... has disappeared"? Is it so hard to get the original actor to return and reprise his role but this time he's in "Peevy's" role of the grizzled, lovable mentor? Is THAT really so impossible?
I just want to see Billy Campbell back on screen. I just want to see the past remembered and franchises to mirror a bit what life is like, where we grow up and take the reins from our parents. Instead it's like movies nowadays have this subtext of "screw you mom & dad, we'd be all better off if you were dead!"
The Colossus of Rhodey: But of course!!!
Throughout the grand scheme of things you??l secure an A just for effort and hard work. Where you actually misplaced everybody was in all the specifics. You know, people say, the devil is in the details??And that couldn?? be more accurate here. Having said that, allow me reveal to you just what exactly did deliver the results. The article (parts of it) is actually very engaging and that is probably why I am making the effort in order to opine. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. Secondly, despite the fact that I can certainly see a jumps in logic you make, I am definitely not certain of exactly how you seem to unite the details that make the actual final result. For the moment I shall yield to your point but wish in the future you connect the dots better.
