Two quick items

There is much ado about Pope Frank giving priests the OK to forgive women who have had an abortion. This is not news. JPII did exactly this in 1995

I am completely unbothered by Obama changing Mt. McKinley to Denali. Seriously. We live in places with names like Wissihicken, Hockessin, Ho-Ho-Kus, Lake Hopatcong, Conowingo etc. What the hell difference does it make what we call the mountain? Personally, I think Denali sounds nicer anyway.

I don't care whether it's called Mt. McKinley or Denali. I do care that the name was changed by an act of Congress and if the President wants it changed he should have to go through Congress to do it.

Alaskans, and millions who love Alaska, support changing the name of Mt. McKinley to Denali. And that is exactly why President Barack Obama’s unilateral decision to change the name is so wrong.

When we allow leaders to bend the rules for popular policies, we create bad precedents for them to bend the rules for unpopular ones. The name ought to have been changed through a legislative compromise, or a consultative administrative process–not by fiat.
