Every James Bond car

Via Ace: Every Bond Car Ranked.

Every car? I'm not so certain, but Supercompressor's list is pretty comprehensive, and includes cars from the Bond novels, too.

Some highlights:

  • The Citroen 2CV from For Your Eyes Only only has between nine and twenty-nine horsepower. Seriously! Bond (Roger Moore) does remark about being "out-horsepowered" in the Italian countryside car chase scene.
  • The Ford Fairlane from Die Another Day -- I wonder how many viewers thought that was some kind of joke? It isn't -- due to the US trade embargo, Cubans have had to make due with constantly refurbishing old 1950s-era US autos.
  • The BMW Z8 from The World Is Not Enough -- the last car designed by the original Q. 'Nuff said.
  • The AMC Hornet: yes, a Bond flick actually utilized an American Motors vehicle, in this case in The Man With The Golden Gun. Next big budget AMC car: the Pacer in Wayne's World. (Just guessing.)
  • The Ford Mustang Mach 1 in Diamonds Are Forever: Last of an era, as gas crises led to the demise of the old American muscle car. And this car was also the end of an era, as from here the name "Mustang" became a sad joke ... until revitalized over a decade later.
  • The Lotus Esprit S1 in The Spy Who Loved Me: What's not to like? In its time was sleek and sporty, turned into a submarine, and could blast a helicopter piloted by a total babe to shreds while submerged.

  • The Aston Martin DB5. 'Nuff said! The best-ever, hands down. Seen in Goldfinger and Skyfall, among others.
