Living in the bubble

Superior Spider-Man writer Dan "Set the Record Straight" Slott shows how he lives in comfy "progressive" bubble:

It seems Dan is blissfully unaware of how the term "racist" has been turned into a virtually useless "Boy Who Cried Wolf" term thanks in no small part to the Far Left (and even Just Left) who have routinely utilized the epithet for just about any criticism of the president.

Dan has a point, of course, about political hyperbole in general; calling those who merely want sensible regulations on firearms "gun grabbers" doesn't help the debate. However, the fear among those who believe in gun rights certainly is not unfounded with this administration. Among other instances.

And Dan has more:

In my view, this demonstrates how Slott lives in a bubble even more than the above example. It continually amazes me how some people -- usually "progressives" -- are so distraught about the supposed power of Fox News when it is but ONE conservative news outlet in a sea of left-leaning networks. Consider why FNC rose to prominence in the first place.

Please check out the entire Twitter thread. As I wrote about here, I do give Slott credit for being willing to take a [political] stand and accepting any consequences (meaning, mostly economic) which may come his way -- unlike many others in his field. Unfortunately, his politics merely mirror just about everyone else in said field.

Remember when Paul Ryan tried to talk about serious entitlement reform and suddenly there was a commercial with his double throwing a grandma in a wheelchair off a cliff?

Or how about Obama's Super-PAC releasing a commercial where Mitt Romney was somehow responsible for giving a woman cancer?

Or Sandra Fluke getting a prime time slot at the DNC with a national audience where she essentially made the case that if Mitt Romney was elected that he would send shock troops into the homes of women to take control of their bodies? Meanwhile, the national debt is just shy of $17 trillion.

As you pointed out Hube, the left regularly smears guys like us as racistbigothomophobes (one word), and yet because FOX exists it's somehow a counterweight to NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN? Umm...okay. Right, Dan Slott. I buy that.

Would Dan Slott like me to go through the mountain of evidence of influential Democrats who have made downright scary comments on gun rights? President Obama uses children and the Newtown parents as human shields in this debate, Joe Biden says this is "just the beginning" ... and I can't say "gun grabbers" from time-to-time? Please.

What's worse: Saying "gun grabbers" to refer to people like Piers Morgan (who thinks that the second Amendment only applies to muskets for all eternity), or the person who uses the "if just one child can be saved" logic on far-reaching legislation on a Constitutional right?

It would be nice if Dan Slott actually debated this topic with you here. But he likes the safety and security of his Twitter feed, where he can spout off knowing his fans will defend him to the bitter end, no matter how specious or outrageous his claims happen to be.

Indeed, he is in a bubble and he doesn't even know it.

Besides which, aren't the truest "child murder enablers" in society today the defenders of abortion?

A little thing called Occam's Razor never occurs to the Fox-bashers. It was successful because it provided a much-needed conservative alternative to the MSM and broke their monopoly on the media in this country.

Paul: Absolutely.

Carl: I went back and forth today with a Slott backer who just kept insisting that Fox "is worse" than other news orgs, and definitely "more biased." It's like trying to have a conversation with a piece of toast.

I glanced at that thread. They're incapable of independent thought. All they ever do is regurgitate lies they here on sites like Daily Kos and claim it's their genuine opinion.

And fanboys like the Slott backer tend to defend their favorite creators no matter what, as I've found. It's like they worship them as gods or something.
