Oh, THAT war on women

Feminism, I am told, is about giving women choices. It isn't. It's about making sure women make the correct choices. Remember when Hillary Clinton said she wasn't going to "stay home and bake cookies"? I do. My mother, a lifelong democrat was livid. She said that was a slap in the face to her and every other woman that put their children ahead of their career. Here is the latest incarnation of that same line of "thinking"

Remember this ad next time you hear someone say feminism is about giving women choices.

Feminist Simone de Beauvoir:

No woman should be authorized to stay at home and raise her children. Women should not have that choice, precisely because if there is such a choice, too many women will make that one.

looked up the clinton quote from 20 years ago: 'I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was to fulfill my profession which I entered before my husband was in public life.'

ok. she said she had a choice and made one. how was she saying all women have to make the same kind of choice? was she telling your mother or any other woman what to choose? are you saying her choice for her own life was incorrect? don't you want the option to choose your own path in life rather than have to do what somebody chooses for you?

about those other quotes i saw here from other feminists: they expressed their opinions. you don't have to agree. feminism was sometimes called 'women's liberation'. that's still what it's about. liberation and liberty and making your own choices. informed choices, not uninformed ones. individual choices, not uniform ones. consider what others have to say, but you are the decider. we all are.
