Gimmick city

Looks like the Amazing Spider-Man will be getting a side-kick.

Color me bored. That, and the art absolutely blows.

(Thanks for Carl for the tip.)

I read this issue yesterday, and I enjoyed it a lot, especially as a homage to Spidey's own origin. Slott makes it clear to the reader why Peter has never had a sidekick before, and why him having one is a bad idea.

It also gives them another angle to explore why Peter chooses to be Spider-Man, because great power requires great responsibility. Alpha so far has plenty of the former, but so far none of the later. Ultimately, what makes Spider-Man a hero is who is under the mask. I think the story is supposed to last three or four issues and I don't think 'Alpha' will be around after the end, and certainly not as Spidey's sidekick.

Also, I like Ramos' cartooning style, but it does take some getting used to.

Yeah, someone should remind Dan "Set the Record Straight" Slott that Spidey doesn't need a sidekick... he needs to have everything from the Clone Saga/The Final Chapter to today retconned away and have his marriage to Mary Jane restored.
