Why Obama won't release his college transcripts

This is the most plausible theory to me:

Roger Simon speculates that the reason the president refuses to release transcripts from college is that they might reveal his claim of foreign birth. That is certainly a possibility. Falsifying information in order to receive financial assistance is fraud. And while the statute of limitations would mean that Obama couldn't be prosecuted, it would end his political career.

For the clueless out there: Notice it says "his claim of foreign birth." Simon (and I) are not Birthers; far from it. As noted here, it is highly likely Obama embellished his background for the same reason Massachusetts Democrat Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren did: it delighted the "progressive" academics with whom the two chose to surround themselves.

You (he) lost me on the third word... "speculates"...

Time is short, so anything with the word "speculates", gets shifted to the trash pile out of expediency, if nothing else.

It's kind of a shame, for there are great possibilities that lurk under the word... "speculates".

For example, one could speculate about the Roswell incident. There are a lot of secrets that even today, if it truly "were" a weather balloon, all alien connections would have been debunked a long time ago. Quite possibly, are we not, under some alien spell, as we speak. If you look hard enough, you can see the world changed after that moment in time. Ahh, the thrills of speculation.

And again, one could speculate that it was an adventurous Egyptian who brought his gene pool over into the Americas, long before Abraham even existed, and the seeds of those genes became eventually crushed by Spaniards and gunpowder in both the Inca and Aztec civilizations. That ancient gene pool is now spread up and down the mountains of Mexico and Peru, and is the rightful line of civilization. Europeans were just a sideline... Ahh, the thrills of speculation.

And one could speculate on ones own relationships. On this all people are guilty, whether in past or present. We speculate: ahh, if only I'd done something differently...
But we didn't. And it happened the way it did. And we made the best of it. And the future is still wide open so we can possibly still, make ourselves happy in the long run. Yes, if we look for opportunities and exercise them, the future is wide open... (Tom Petty reference btw. :) )

So looking back for something to hinge a huge flip of the current reality, away from one we'd wish had never happened, into one we dream may one day occur, is rather pointless. Because you know, even if that possibility did occur, that he "was" born in Kenya, that aliens "do" control our
destiny, that line of civilization really "did" bypass white people by jumping from Egypt to Central America, or that if, just, if we'd "done" something different, or "acted" different, or "pretended" we were somebody different than who we actually are.... people would instantly recognize it as true, and immediately give up all the gains they'd made under the old ways, and turn it over to us, and we could then take our rightful place as one of the heroes of mankind......

Ahhh, speculation. How nice... but it never changes anything... Real work. Utilizing open doors. Exploring all options. Looking forward, not backward. Spending our energy making positive changes instead of trying to rebuild a house of cards from ashes.... That is real. That is why... as soon as I see the word "speculation..." I move on.

(Hube, sorry this was so long, just started one line and it grew... ) :)

IOW, Obama has no one but himself to blame for the phenomenon known as Birthers, right 'vips?

Hmmm, that's a new concept, so I'll have to think on it. I know, how hard it was for me to find my certificate, and that was because I was born deep in rural America during a time of history when birth certificates weren't really that important. Things were a lot more loose back then, and to be born in a state that hadn't yet reached it's 12th birthday, means a lot of things were probably put in boxes.....

So, he can't be blamed for not having it if, he didn't have it.

So, from that perspective, I can't see how he would have been able to do anything differently.. And considering that the birther movement didn't die, even when the actual certificate was presented to Donald Trump no less, and considering how first it was deemed a forgery, and now, it is being dismissed by the secretary of state even though it is agreed to be authentic, leads me to believe that aliens have taken over some of our population after all, and those people just don't have the skill yet to blend in unnoticed with the rest of us..

So, no. in answer to your question. I don't think he has any part of this controversy. :)

Are you up on current events? Have you even read the post on which you're commenting?

Go back, look again, then come back and comment on the actual point at hand. Hint: The issue isn't his birth certificate or whether he was born elsewhere.

Busted. I read the Elizabeth Warren article... :( Went back just now, and see the angle you speak.

It is: that he tried to fudge his past to make himself look cooler than ice, and that is why now, when proving it is so important, he has difficulty.

Ok. I see what you say.

It worries me. I too used to let mis-perceptions slide, just for the simple reason... I always got turned down when asking for a date. But... when I told them my name was Bond, James Bond, and I worked for the MI6, life was a tiny bit smoother...

That's sheesh right back at you. :)

Precisely. Obama's the original Birther! Then, he enjoyed making fun of all those who questioned his birth place ... all the while he's largely responsible for it.
