Illegal immigration affecting Mormon Church

Mormon Latinos think their fellow Latter Day Saints are anti-immigrant:

Mormon missionaries increasingly are confronted by prospective converts who believe the church is anti-immigrant, Yapias says, and some Latinos don't even feel welcome in their own LDS congregations because of anti-immigrant rhetoric.

The perception is due partly to the fact that a Mormon, state Sen. Russell Pearce, sponsored Arizona's new immigration law. Rep. Stephen Sandstrom, R-Orem, who also is LDS, hopes to bring a similar law to Utah.

Y'know, this same type of purposeful blurring of the line between legal and illegal immigration is getting tiresome. For the umpteenth time, how is wanting to secure the border against illegal immigrants ... "anti-immigrant?" Or "anti-Latino?" The rational -- and easy -- answer is: "It's not."

Sandstrom agrees with Pearce -- that the church's 12th Article of Faith points toward rigorous enforcement of immigration laws. That article says Mormons believe in "obeying, honoring and sustaining the law."

[Activist Tony] Yapias, who is LDS and has a son on a Mormon mission, argues an immigration crackdown is at odds with the church's call for compassion and its practice of ignoring citizenship status when it comes to baptisms, church leadership positions, missions and access to temples.

How is being against illegal immigration "not compassionate?" And "citizenship status" doesn't mean "someone here illegally." That terminology would distinguish between a citizen and legal resident.

Look, this church (and any other) can do as it pleases in terms of its doctrines and beliefs. But chastising its members as not being "compassionate" because they're in favor of securing our national border and preventing illegal immigration, is dishonest and, frankly, beyond ridiculous.

(By the way, every time I see "LDS" I think of Capt. Kirk's erroneous abbreviation for "LSD" in "Star Trek IV.")

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.

What is the argument here? every single alien "BROKE THE LAW!" Our Government, Republican & Democrat, have allowed the invasion of 30 million criminals and is the largest invasion of any Nation, in direct violation of Article IV, Section IV of our Constitution.

This refusal to abide by our Constitution should be classified as Treason as grounds for impeachment & trials for Treason!

Not only have they allowed the invasion, they force American tax payers to pay Billions of dollars to provide Welfare, Prison, Educate the invaders children, free medical care, the invaders break numerous laws, massive document fraud, & are destroying our schools, hospitals, communities, while Robbing, Raping, Killing & Assaulting American Citizens WAKE UP PEOPLE!
