Let the "progressive" excuses continue

The Top Ten Cable Shows for 2009:

1. The O'Reilly Factor - 3.34M
2. Hannity - 2.51M
3. Glenn Beck - 2.32M
4. Special Report - 2.04M
5. On The Record - 1.97M
6. The Fox Report - 1.88M
7. O'Reilly Factor (11pm Rpt) - 1.51M
8. Your World - 1.48M
9. Americas Newsroom - 1.43M
10. Studio B - 1.21M (Source.)

In case you're unaware (as I'm sure many "progressives" are), all these shows are Fox News Channel programs. Now ... how is it that FNC has every single one of the top ten shows for the entire year? Here's some typical excuses "progressives" will give you:

  • "Fox appeals to the lowest common denominator." (As if THAT is some sort of explanation.)
  • "They're more entertainment than news." (Hardly. But entertainment is a part of it -- the same as any other MSM "news" broadcast.)
  • "Fox is opinion, not news." (Several of the shows listed ARE virtually all-news shows; nevertheless, such a statement hardly means that "preferred" leftist news shows are sans opinion.)

Here's the simple FACT as to why Fox News is so freakin' popular, people: Because it recognized that a huge segment of the American public's views weren't getting a fair hearing on the so-called mainstream media news broadcasts. It's the same reason conservative talk radio exploded over the last couple decades or so.

Occam's Razor, people. It applies here, and how.

(At top left: Keith Olbermann's reaction to this news -- "Shh! Don't tell anyone! Please!")

(h/t to The Corner.)

And McDonalds is the best selling restaurant. That says nothing about the quality.
