... has a new book coming out. (That would be William Ayers, by the way.) The title is Race Course Against White Supremacy and is co-authored by Ayers' co-terrorist wife, Bernardine Dohrn. Here's the book's description:
White supremacy and its troubling endurance in American life is debated in these personal essays by two veteran political activists. Arguing that white supremacy has been the dominant political system in the United States since its earliest days—and that it is still very much with us—the discussion points to unexamined bigotry in the criminal justice system, election processes, war policy, and education. The book draws upon the authors' own confrontations with authorities during the Vietnam era, reasserts their belief that racism and war are interwoven issues, and offers personal stories about their lives today as parents, teachers, and reformers.
Sounds ... "interesting." Here's the "About the Author" blurb. My additions of what should also be included are in bold:
William C. Ayers is a distinguished professor of education and a senior university scholar at the University of Illinois–Chicago. He remains unrepentant about his terrorist past, which included plans to blow up the Pentagon. His past may be best summed up with his quote, "Guilty as hell. Free as a bird. America is a great country." He is the author of To Teach: The Journey of a Teacher and Fugitive Days, a memoir about his life with his wife, Bernardine Dohrn. Bernardine Dohrn is the director of the Children and Family Law Justice Center and a clinical associate professor of law at Northwestern University. She is the coauthor of A Century of Juvenile Justice and Justice in the Making. She also is an unrepentant terrorist and former member of the Weather Underground. They live in Chicago ... laughing at how they got away with it all, safely cocooned in the womb of higher academia.Posted by Hube at October 8, 2008 08:37 PM | TrackBack
If you can, get a playback of BO's interview with Michael Smerconish on WPHT1210 (Philly talk). It will be on at 7:30 a.m. and you can get the replay on the station's site. Very informational. At least Michael has the guts to ask the hard questions - and wait till you hear the answers....
Posted by: Annie at October 10, 2008 07:06 AMIf the media's primary interest (ratings) was not in opposition to the Ayers story going away, they could point out a few facts that make it awfully tough to demonize Obama's position. To wit;
1. It's the ANNENBERG challenge! Named after one of the most prominent, stalwart Republican backers of the 20th century. Friend to Gerald Ford and George W. Bush.
2. On the board with Obama sat several former Republicans, including a Reagan adiminstration state department official.
3. On the board sat the former head of one of the biggest conservative newspapers in the country, the Chicago Tribune. Guess they all like to "pal around with terrorists" too. As does the governor of South Carolina, and countless education officials around the country, at least a few of whom, one could safely assume, are Republicans.
4. Dear ol' Mrs. Annenberg donated the max to John McCain.
