We're "too negative"

Joe over at Merit Bound Alley says that Colossus is full of "constant negativism" (shouldn't that be "negativity?"):

I still read the Colossus of Rhodey on a regular basis, but as of late, it seems kind of like Garfield. Same ol, same ol. We know Colossus does not like Obama and liberals in the same way that Garfield dislikes Odie. Its pounded in on a regular basis.

However, at least Garfield was able to devote some comics to what the fat cat liked. Lately, all that I see on Colossus is screeds against liberal media, against Mike Protack, against Obama, against Delaware Liberal. But what are they for? Comics, apparently.

Id like to see Colossus of Rhodey get back to writing about what they do like, what they believe. The constant negativism has gotten tiresome and boring.

I thanked Joe for the constructive criticism in the comments, and for the fact that he thinks we were once "mighty." But are our posts all that different from, say, [lefty] DE Liberal's or [lefty] DE Watch's of late? Doesn't criticism of your ideological foes entail a lot of "negativity" -- by pointing out their faults and errors?

Wadda you think about Joe's pontifications?

The MSM, even in decline, still controls and determines what the top news stories will be. In a sense, the MSM (like Nancy Pelosi) controls the biggest microphone and loudspeakers.

Most bloggers are inveterate readers, still read the MSM and critique what they read in the MSM. Blogs enable bloggers to do that.

Hube you point out good MSM reporting when you see it but it is rare. It is far more common to see crappy MSM work and harder still to resist the urge to point it out.

There are very few Kumbaya blogs around. The general theme of bloggers is less government is desirable and more honesty and balance from the MSM is needed.

I always say there are only five things you need to have a chance for a happy and comfortable life. They are education, marketable skills, family & friends, your own home, and a secure retirement. The education and marketable skills are the underpinnings of lifelong satisfaction plus family and friends. Our onerous tax system presents substantial obstacles to owning a home and having a secure retirement. Most liberals don't believe nor want to hear it but our tax rates (including social security burden) are way too high.

That is my two cents. Call it what you want but "go negative" any time it seems necessary.

Keep up the good work.

And can I ask your critic which "positive" blogs he reads?

Thanks for the encouraging words, AJ.

I was going back to check out some past posts ... geez, what about my "Spanish Language Video of the Week" posts? Are they not positive in that they're [trying, at least] to inculcate a sense of cultural appreciation by tying them to a very American medium (the music video)?

Keep up the good work Hube! Pointing out the idiocy of the left/msm seems negative because there is so much of it...but, based on the blue/red divide, apparently a large percentage of our population falls for it hook, line and sinker. It is hard to read the opposition with an open mind especially when the opposition plays to the fact that one not have a mind or even an open one at that! As for the spanish videos, how about country/americana song of the week!

Hey Hube!

I know you have some great posts up there about comics, Spanish Videos, etc. My point (meant constructively) is that it would be nice to hear more positive political points as well.

Sure, point out the idiocy and hypocrisy of the MSM, but let's also hear about political points, candidates, legislation that you support, rather than all negative opinions of liberal bias/ideas.

I have no problem with reading about the "other side's" idiocy, but I miss the times where you brought your own support to the table.

PS: "Negativism" is the Harp Lager accepted synonym of "negativity".

I understand the negative stuff but personally I enjoy the other stuff more. Comics, pop culture, personal stuff (still waiting for you to show up to soccer at least once), etc.

I worry abou this for my own blog too. Am I repeating myself? Nobody's commenting why am I doing this? YMMV.
