Liberal "compassion" on display right here in Delaware

Take a look at how these a**holes are ... "taking" the news of Robert Novak's brain tumor.

These sub-humans deserve not one single ounce of anyone's respect. Among many other things.

"We go after Senator Kennedy here on the basis of ideas...It's the left that sits out there when they hear somebody gets sick and their blog post: 'Hope they die.'"

Rush Limbaugh said that. The same day his colleague Michael Wiener-Savage mocked Ted Kennedy's tumor with a Dead Kennedy's song on the third-highest rated right-wing talk show in the nation.

The same day a talk show host was fired here in Pittsburgh for saying he hoped Kennedy would "live long enough to be assassinated."

The same day that comment threads just like DE Liberal's appeared on righty sites all over the place (most common theme: "Sorry, I can't feel bad when he killed a woman and got away with it.") Plenty of stand-up conservatives slammed the nasty commenters, just as plenty of the comments at DE Liberal (including the actual post itself, I might point out) are compassionate.

The internet is equally chock full of a-holes on both sides. What do mean to prove? That one side is worse? Why let them get to you, especially when there's no real argument to be made that the crapola on the left is any worse than the worst on the right?

I personally think everyone ought to subscribe to good old Mom's Adage: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

First of all, Michael Savage is no one's colleague. He's a reactionary firebrand who appeals to the worst in us. The left has its share of those figures too.

Secondly, when a right-wing host gets fired for making those statements, that's kind of a cause-and-effect. The schedule at Air America (if it still exists) would be empty if those hosts were held to the same standard.

I have a friend who lost his father to a brain tumor. I have complete sympathy for the sufferers and their families, regardless of ideology. Times of tragedy like this should be when we can set aside, however briefly, the positions we find distasteful and deal with the illness that any of us could suffer.

Absolutely.

Though I have to quibble with attempts to pretend Savage's audience is so far removed from Limbaugh's, etc. If he's a reactionary firebrand, there are some 10 million reactionary firebrand lovers -- and 400+ enabling radio stations -- out there. ;)

What do mean to prove? That one side is worse?

Yes, actually, and there have been studies that prove it. Nevertheless, I point to DE Liberal since this is far from the first time they have done this shit, and my rant is directed squarely at the usual suspects.

I think Savage is a total a**hole. Clear enough, Dan?

And once again, I don't need to be lectured on "fairness" by a guy whose former political blog was the farthest thing from it. Spare me your typical holier-than-thou.

Posted by: Hube at July 28, 2008 07:13 PM

And again I readily admit that my former political blogging was a pointless waste of time, just like all blogging that only publicizes one side of stories.

And from the few times you've linked to DE Liberal, I'd agree that they are quite jackassy.

Damn Hube who is the wuss who calls himself Delaware's Toughest Blogger?

I read a lot of blogs and the liberal ones are way more populated by jealous, angry, hateful commenters. They hate red states, Republicans, people who are not gay, people who have religious faith, who have a southern accent, drive a pickup, like C&W music, etc.

They tend to be the biggest bunch of cry babies in the country. They wish for bad things to happen to gain a political advantage (i.e more soldiers killed, high gas prices, layoff announcements, bank failures). They are sad and angry failures in general. And they want to make everyone miserable like they are.

They are quick to embrace bad news and to believe every BS and negative story about the USA.

IMO.

Answer: One of the biggest a-holes I've ever come across, AJ.

I've little hassle w/nasty comments towards someone who was abusive and outright hateful to others while they were in good health (like Mike Savage). But Bob Novak? Tony Snow? Ridiculous! "Guys" like DTB (aka "dimwitty") spew their venom towards them merely out of petty political differences. That'd be like me wishing someone like Chris Matthews would die quickly if he was found to have cancer or something. That would just plain vile and evil.

Posted by: Hube at July 28, 2008 09:12 PM

yawn. You are such a putz. Who am I? I am the real deal. Not some comic book reading, NJ reading, Battle Star Galactica watching, grade school teaching pantie waste that gets his rocks off making fun of other people he feels are less intilegent than him.

I am DHB and I don't give a shit if someone gets a brain tumor. If a guy is a dick, he is a dick. Brain tumor doesn't some how erase a dickness factor. Sorry, truth hurts.

time to read Thor...wooohoooo

Posted by: DHB at July 28, 2008 09:44 PM

hide behind your blog pube, you are too cool big guy. toooooo cool.

Posted by: DTB at July 28, 2008 09:46 PM

I'm the real deal, too, dimwitty.

Not some comic book reading, NJ reading, Battle Star Galactica watching, grade school teaching pantie waste that gets his rocks off making fun of other people he feels are less intilegent than him.

But that's really the rub, isn't it? That I actually have a grasp of my (our) own language, while you do not. Oh, and that I CAN read. You'd think that for someone who blogs regularly, this would be a minimum pre-requisite. BTW, it's "Battlestar," "panty-waist," and "intelligent." See what I mean?

I do get my rocks off rubbing your nose in ridiculous errors like the above. After all, it's not as if YOU'RE not a complete dick to others who don't share your opinions now, right? The difference between you and I is, I can actually articulate those differences!

Time to watch Dora, dimwitty. Improve that vocabulary!

Posted by: Hube at July 28, 2008 09:53 PM

"Hide?" Who's hiding, dimwitty? What are you implying?

Posted by: Hube at July 28, 2008 09:54 PM

and I don't give a shit if someone gets a brain tumor. If a guy is a dick, he is a dick.

Liberal compassion in a nutshell. Being a "dick" like Novak and Snow means "not sharing my political views."

Liberals are for "tolerance?" "Compassion?" "Acceptance?" GIVE ME A ROYAL F***ING BREAK.

DTB sounds like a young dumb punk who has a lot to learn. I did not know they had them in Delaware.

Posted by: AJ Lynch at July 28, 2008 10:09 PM

the sad thing is that most bloggers write to see their thoughts on the screen. this is not meant to be a snide remark, but they are the same as the guy at the end of the bar who will tell you how to high speed balance a tire, choose a mutual fund and design a water powered car. i dont care which way your lean, and in politics its the same as being discriminatory. a guy has cancer, and he- in your view maybe a prick- but there are a lot of people who love him. his family. but since its not you, you can say what you wish. but pick on a blogger and they all come out of the wood work to say 'how dare you.' and to try to feign self confidence on a computer screen is really sad. kind of like being cool the first week of school and telling about your hot summer girlfriend from the beach. no body believes it and all you do is look more a fool.

you are the principal in Breakfast Club Pube...and always will be.

You see people for what you think they are. It seems to serve you well in life I imagine.

I'm sure you have impacted so many childrens live's just the way you imagined when you were growing up. Don't you big guy?

Posted by: donviti at July 28, 2008 10:21 PM

pendergrass,

I don't care what illness you are inflicted with, I don't project my fear of death on someone or my loss of a loved one either.

it is such horseshit to think that just because someone has a loved one out there I should bend over and kiss the ill's ass because he is now suffereing. So be it.

Death is death and just because someone is diagnosed with cancer they don't get a pass in my book. I wouldn't expect one if it were me and quite honestly could give a shit less what someone like pube here thinks of me.

I can see it now, I act like an ahole at the grocery store:

"That guys is an asshole"

"he has cancer though"

"oh, nevermind, sorry, I stand corrected"

sorry, that's not the way life works in my book.

Posted by: donviti at July 28, 2008 10:27 PM

what book is that donviti? i love short stories.

Posted by: apendergast at July 28, 2008 10:32 PM

Not to split hairs, but I don't think Tony Snow and Robert Novak can be lumped together.

Snow, by almost all accounts, was a very good and decent man, who treated people with respect and received it in return. He was liked by folks on both sides of the aisle.

Bob Novak, on the other hand, is a dick. ;) I mean, Plame and nutty temper and everything else aside, the guy's on the record as thinking dogfighting should be legal. Do you really need more to realize that he deserves Jon Stewart's "Douchebag of Liberty" moniker?

Posted by: dan at July 28, 2008 10:35 PM

Donviti: I see what you're saying about being consistent, but then what you're essentially saying is that you want to see people you disagree with to die, which is pretty damn screwed up, dude. No disagreement should bring forth that kind of sentiment. You need to seriously re-evaluate some shit and get a grip.

AJ: That is some lame, cliched crap. You're no better than Donviti, now are you? I'm a liberal, and I'm neither jealous nor hateful. I like capitalism. I don't hate people who aren't gay (WTF?) -- I don't think my wife would appreciate it if I did. And if you don't see hate on the conservative blogs as well, it's because you choose to ignore it. I love my country, warts and all. And I like country music. Except Daryl Worley. That guy's a douche.

Posted by: dan at July 28, 2008 10:44 PM

You see people for what you think they are. It seems to serve you well in life I imagine.

This -- from the guy who constantly makes snide comments on blogs to those w/whom he disagrees? You're a walking, talking (but talking incoherently) contradiction in terms, dimwitty.

I've impacted my kids' lives just fine in my just-shy-of-20 yrs. of teaching, thank you very much. It'd be easy for you to verify, I'm sure.

Posted by: Hube at July 28, 2008 10:46 PM

I despise Ted Kennedy -- as do most conservatives. Here's how I responded to Kennedy's tumor -- and most conservatives I know/read responded similarly.

I still pray for him -- and for the salvation of his soul -- despite the many evils he has perpetrated in his personal and public lives. Why? Because some things trump politics.
