G.O.P. gubernatorial candidate Bill Lee on Delaware's eminent domain bill veto

Bill Lee Blasts Eminent Domain Veto

Says Veto Decision is “an Abuse of Authority”

Rehoboth Beach ~ Bill Lee rebuked the recent veto of SB245 and the refusal of the State Senate to override it, calling Governor Minner's decision "an abuse of her authority," and the Senate's decision to let it stand to be "an affront to Delaware's citizens."

"The right to own property is one of the most basic civil rights in our nation. This administration has usurped that right, and endorsed an atmosphere where anyone's property rights can effectively be sold to the highest bidder," said Lee. "The rationale for her veto was flimsy, and the Senate acted in a cowardly fashion in not overturning this travesty."

In an 11-9 vote with one abstention, the State Senate refused to overturn Governor Minner's veto. The motion required 13 votes to pass.

"Rectifiying this mistake will be among the highest priorities of my administration. This should not have come to pass."

I'm going to disagree with Bill Lee -- Gov. Minner's veto was not an abuse of her authority. Indeed, it is entirely within the bounds of her authority as governor.

That said, the veto was also dead wrong, and she should not have issued the veto. That's why one should elect folks like Lee -- in order to make sure that they make good use of the authority that they have in order to benefit the people.

Gov. Minner made a serious error veto-ing that emininent domain bill. No state or any big business/firm should have the right to covet and seize someone else's property for their own finanicial or political gain.
I am not really supporting any candidate at this time, not even Bill Lee. I am fed up with the double-talk and crowd-pleasing tactics used by politicians. I am waiting for a politician who is the real deal.

Eminent Domain

Candidate for Governor Mike Protack is very disappointed at the failure to override SB 245 and clearly lays out in the attached video why Governor Minner and the Legislature failed to act in a responsible way. Economic growth will suffer because of the short sighted actions of Governor Minner.
