Having just left the higher educational "system". I can agree with the article.

My point in the title and first sentence is that too often when schools/teachers try to enforce high[er] standards -- and stick to 'em -- the flood of complaints from parents come flooding in.

I can't say I've ever seen any sweeping reform during lower education besides No Child Left Behind. I would like to see a greater focus on math and sciences
