Save the planet -- self-extinguish the human race

"Having children is selfish. It's all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet," says Toni Vernelli.

If this woman were so concerned about the environment, she should a) stop taking trips to South Africa (think of the pollution caused by her flights!) or b) since she herself is consuming resources, she should kill herself.

People who go to such great lengths to avoid having children should repay their parents the thousands of dollars they spent raising them.

Methinks she doth protest too much.

Reminds me of some of the modern idiot backpackers who won't toss an apple core into the woods once they're done eating it - they "pack it out" instead and throw it away at home. Something about "preserving the ecological balance." Um, how do they think vegetation spreads? A bird could eat that apple core at your house (assuming it was composted, since we're being all ecologically friendly here) and then fly over the woods you just packed through. Then, doing that neat thing that birds occasionally do when flying, they could "redistribute" the seeds over the woods.

Would've saved time & trouble to toss the core, you know?

Same thing with this grandiose justification for not having children. If you don't want 'em lady, don't have 'em. Don't try to feed the rest of us this line of bullshit about you "saving the planet" by not having them. Don't try to justify your guilt over having an abortion by saying you're saving the planet. You didn't save the planet - you saved yourself a lot of aggravation. I'm pro choice, and I'm glad the option existed for women like this one - one who OBVIOUSLY wouldn't have been a caring mother.

Or any kind of mother at all, really.

Wow. That was just dumb.

It's true that limiting your number of biological children to 2 is a solution to the whole overpopulation issue, but... to say that we shouldn't have them at all is, as you said, jeopardizing the existence of the human race. Why not just, I don't know, change our ways?

Little by little, the mask is slowly falling away, isn't it?
