Myth: The MSM is liberally biased

Oh, wait a sec:

MSNBC.com identified 144 journalists who made political contributions from 2004 through the start of the 2008 campaign, according to the public records of the Federal Election Commission. Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left: 125 journalists gave to Democrats and liberal causes. Only 17 gave to Republicans. Two gave to both parties. (Link.)

Just remember though -- such donations do NOT affect their reporting. Only those at Fox News and the Washington Times who donate to the GOP let their bias come through in their reporting.

And you find no irony in the fact that you got that story from a so-called liberally biased organization?

Er, Dan, I got this notion reclining in my rocker watching network TV and reading the local liberal paper for the last 50 years. And, oh yeah, along came Fox News Network and the Dans of the world whine. Suggested reading, Danno, " Bias' by Bernard Golberg, just for starters. No irony at all Danny boy !!

What was ironic was Fox's Brit Hume's noting that one of his research staffers is on the list as a Dem contributor. One more point for fair and balanced.

I read it, Fred. And I'd almost guarantee that's one more "righty" book than you've read "lefty" books.

Dan,

While an undergraduate I was required to read more Soviet propaganda than you can ever imagine. Now we are making progres . In the next step of your conversion please read " Up From Liberalism" by Wm. F. Buckley and Treason & Godless by Ann Coulter. Deal ?

I won't dignify with a response your comparison of non far-right views with "Soviet propaganda." But thanks for your input.

Of course, they (the MSM) see it all up close and personal -- they ought to know!

Moreover, they are citizens, therefore deserve no criticism for expressing preferences with a portion of their paychecks. You didn't mean to suggest otherwise, now did you Hube?

Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from criticism.

Haven't heard that one in a while -- the 'ol "they must know better" argument. Which sure would explain 'ol Perry's "why-in-the-hell-won't-you-see-it-my-way" comments around here! LOL!
