If Rudy was a Dem, wouldn't this be called "Swiftboating"?

Probably.

Firefighters: Giuliani's priorities were wrong after 9/11. (Link.)

Would be "swiftboating" only if the charges against Giuliani were unfounded, as had been the case with Kerry according to the testimony of his on-boat crew!

Isn't the IAFF a chief's organisation, and not representative of actual smoke eaters? I seem to remember that being the case when they endorsed Kerry, while the rank and file mostly supported GWB.

The Union Prez who is quoted is named Harold Shaitberger and if you saw his picture he would look familiar to you.

Because when Kerry was running, he rarely held a news conference where you could not spot Shaitberger standing in the background. I will try and find a link to a photo.

This condemnation of Guiliani is just another Dem group trying to undermine a republican candidacy.

I ask again, were the charges against Giuliani unfounded? That's the point that you choose to avoid, Al.

Moreover, why is it a concern if Union Prez Schaitberger was associated with the Kerry campaign? Oh, I know, anything 'Union' is bad by definition!

"Moreover, why is it a concern if Union Prez Schaitberger was associated with the Kerry campaign? "

Well, if he's as omnipresent as noted above it would indicate to me that he has an agenda and that might skew his perspective.

I remember this controversy as it was unfolding. This is not a question of priorities so much as methods. It is unseemly to question the motivations for the change in recovery policy. Essentially, Rudy wanted to remove debris and sift through it elsewhere so remains could be found. IIRC, this was not done at Fresh Kills but somewhere nearby.

Imagine looking for a marble you dropped in you kitchen garbage can. Would you root through the thing churning it over and over until you found it or would you take things out and put them in another bag one at a time until you find the marble? The Union wanted to do the former (keep the site intact) and Rudy wanted to do the latter (move everything out). The question was one of site integrity vs. speed. YMMV.

Nein, sie sind im allgemeinen sogar äußerst gefräßig. Der Herr ohne Rallye-Streifen verschlingt durchaus 5 bis 10 Zophobas am Tag.
