Live by the barb, die by the barb

Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, is killed by a stingray.

Crikey.

Oh my. I wasn't much of a fan of the guy, though I must say the channel surfing would stop if I came upon his show and he was doing something intriguing. What a tragedy.

Mike: The guy's show was fun to watch, but I lost an immense amount of respect for the guy when he put his baby boy in harm's way, taking him into that croc cage. Moronic, to say the least.

I have to admire the guy for the way he has created a new awareness of wildlife and the need to protect it. A cliche, sure, but how many folks have a new found understanding of lizards, reptiles and other 'undesirable' creatures we coexist with? I was compelled to watch even though I generally have little interest in this type of program. I thought he was crazy for supposedly putting his son in harms way but I also understand that he grew up with these creatures and knows how they react to given situations. I doubt the baby was in as much danger as we perceived at the time. Yeah, he did seem to have an ego the size of a continent but I have to acknowledge his contributions to wildlife preservation.
