Top 11 Things That Anti-War Protesters Would Have Said At the Normandy Invasion on D-Day (Had There Been Anti-War Protesters At Normandy)

These are priceless -- via the Nihilist in Golf Pants:

11. No blood for French Wine!

10. It’s been two and a half years since Pearl Harbor and they still haven’t brought Admiral Nagumo to justice.

9. In 62 years, the date will be 6/6/6. A coincidence? I think not.

8. All this death and destruction is because the neo-cons are in the pocket of Israel.

7. The soldiers are still on the beach, this invasion is a quagmire.

6. Sure the Holocaust is evil, but so was slavery.

5. We are attacked by Japan and then attack France? Roosevelt is worse than the Kaiser!

4. Why bring democracy to Europe by force and not to Korea or Vietnam? I blame racism.

3. This war doesn’t attack the root causes of Nazism.

2. I support the troops, but invading Germany does not guarantee that in 56 years we won't have a President who's worse than Hitler.

1. I don't see Roosevelt or Churchill storming the beaches -- they're Chicken Hawks.

Democracy to Europe? :-P Hah! Looks like we missed the boat on that opportunity. Hope their kids'll forgive us.

Hilarious post, thanks!

Well that's what I get for wandering off to do other things. I WAS going to post this one myself, but you guys beat me to it!
Can't you let the small-fries have a chance?

Anyway, these quips are hysterical. 5,6,8, and 9 were my favs. I'm glad someone put them up. :)

Huh...the invasion of Iraq is somehow like the invasion of Normandy...?

Oh, I get it. We would be winning in Iraq like we won WWII, if not for those very powerful protesters.

Gosh, I sure underestimated the power of these protesters. I was thinking Bush and Rumsfeld had something to do with this debacle. Silly me.

You gotta be quick, Anna. It's a "blog-eat-blog" world out there.

Man, I love bad puns...

Iraq War = World War II. Ha! I'll assume this is supposed to be some sort of right-wing "humor", but wow! That's somethin'.

Hey scourge -- I see now that you had to eat crow about the Dixie Chicks you're now inventing your own strawmen about me being "Bush zombies."

Some things never change....

Hube, I take this post to mean that rhodey (and you maybe ?) think(s) the Iraq and Normandy invasions are sort of similar.
So if the "anti-war protesters" we have now were around on D-Day - they would be causing problems like making things seem bad when they were going pretty well.

I know you think the media is liberal and all, but I just don't think the protesters have that much power. I don't think protesters are making things in Iraq seem bad - I think they are bad. Is that more clear?

Re: Dixie Chicks...I have to go back to that thread now. Thanks a lot.

Look, I know you want to play dense and all, but Nihilist's post is clearly a tongue-in-cheek look at what could have been given today's anti-war Left and the modern press corps. Attempting to make a comparison between the "severity" of the conflicts or whatever else is just, well, silly.

Posted by: Hube at June 7, 2006 04:58 PM

Well thanks for that. But, I get the joke. I just don't think it is funny to imply that we'd be kicking ass in Iraq is not for today's anti-war left and the modern press corps. And, if you don't think that is the "tongue-in-cheek" point - I can't help you.

Awww, it's not funny! Pardon me if I don't get all weepy reading this from the master of the [juvenile] acerbic wit.

I think it's just silly to believe that if the press and anti-war public were akin to that in WW II, the perception of events in Iraq wouldn't indeed be better ... and vice versa.

Posted by: Hube at June 7, 2006 05:25 PM

the perception of events in Iraq wouldn't indeed be better

Very Clintonian wording. The "perception" of events would be better - so liberals are guilty for what? the events or our perception ?

For more on the "stab in the back narrative" read Delawareliberal.

Peace out!

I read the tripe. You haven't learned how to make a direct link yet? Dope.

And yes, Scourge -- "perception." What, are you saying that Normandy wasn't a disaster at the onset? That the casualties weren't astronomical? Did the press back then constantly harp on these -- like the press has harped on Abu Ghraib day after day after day?

Scou, er, um, Jason: I thank you for your conciliatory post (I'd post a comment there but Blogger is down). However: I do NOT hate you. I don't hate anyone, really. I don't even don't like you. It's that you really are a loathesome itch ofttimes. I know you do it [mostly] on purpose, but give it a rest sometimes.

I admit I can be testy.

However, I am not thin-skinned. If I was, why the hell would I be blogging? ;-)
