Mara Liasson a few minutes ago on FNC's "Special Report" (paraphrase): "It may have been a mistake to run those [Danish] cartoons, and that it can be argued the reaction was equally egregious."
Equally egregious?? EQUALLY???

Posted by: Roberto at February 6, 2006 09:15 PMFor any cartoons to have been "equally egregious" to the barbaric behavior of the Islamofascists, it would have to've been one from the pen of Ted Rall!
Posted by: John at February 6, 2006 09:23 PMIt was not "egregious" to have The Virgin Mary covered in Cow Dung. It was not "egregious" to have the Jesus on the Cross put into a jar of Urine. Could you imagine the outcry of the Muslims if that is what had gone on. Maybe they Danish papers should have put these out during Ramadon.
Posted by: David W at February 6, 2006 09:42 PMIt never ceases to amaze me how the muslim religion can create all the havoc in any country, kill, maime, threaten and have absolutely no tolerance !!!
They can get ticked off all they want but I, for one, wopuld be ready to otake these vermin on, anytime, anyplace......the cowards !!!
Yes, Mara Liasson's comment was stunning. I can't believe the panel allowed her to suggest there was a parity between the publishing of CARTOONS and the carnage engaged in by affronted Muslims. Oh and just when I thought the day couldn't get more fun - An Iranian newspaper is running a Holocaust cartoon contest (which really isn't different than any other day of the week!) My Ashkenazi ancestors are sobbing in heaven. But I am just plain angered and disgusted here on earth!
Posted by: Nicole Chiari at February 7, 2006 04:03 AMFred Hiatt on the reactions to 2 controversial items in the Washington Post last week:
Last week the editorial page received hundreds of letters and e-mails suggesting that The Post's opinion pages had crossed a line, not once but twice. The criticism echoed, in a very faint way, a controversy raging through Europe and the Muslim world.
Criticism by e-mails and a letter from the joint chiefs faintly echoes embassy burnings?
Posted by: David Gerstman at February 7, 2006 10:00 AMYes.. My saw dropped and was expecting Brett Hume or somebody on the panel to bitch slap her but I suppose that with time so limited it may be difficult to jump in with the correcting responses.
She is after all from NPR and working there requires a certain world view, albeit it as whacky as a March hare.
Maura is a poster child for liberals.
They believe if you walk around the block every day to avoid a bully, he will never bother you.
Let's face it, liberals in general are stupid cowards. That's how I can spot them so easily.
Posted by: AJ Lynch at February 7, 2006 04:24 PMYou might consider me a "liberal" because of many of my views. However, I find the violent actions against Danish and Norwegian embassies deplorable, and the various other threats to be in COMPLETE disproportion to the publishing of a CARTOON.
Do me a favor, will you?
Don't further divide us by deciding to hate an entire group of people based on one woman's opinion.
That's EXACTLY what these Muslims are doing.
